1) I've performed my Spirit for Bamboo Flute and Drums with one drummer, with four drummers and with a drum track. This performance is with the drum track. I created it on Finale and recorded the flute part in my laundry closet. 2) Half of Two Plus Two was recently performed by Zeitgeist at a special "Tuesday Salon" sponsored by the American Composers Forum. While I wait for that recording, here is a computerized version. I was embarrassed to admit that I got the first ideas for the rhythm and chord structure while watching a tennis match, but was amused when one listener said she liked the "drop shot" at the end! 3) The Bird Song is ahumorous piece for tenor, flute and piano, but I just heard a soprano do it and it was fantastic! The man with the amazing pipes is Andy Kuula. Timothy De Prey is chirping away at the piano. And that's me playing the part of the bird on crack. 4) Let the Children Come to Jesus is written for children's choir, SATB choir, flute and piano. This excerpt is a computer rendition of the introduction and first verse - the children's chorus. The melody came to me in a dream. Most of the words came out of the music. I can't think of how else to describe it. The primary inspiration, of course, is Mark 10:14. 5) This is an excerpt from the first movement of my Lyrics for Flute and Harp published by Alry Publications, etc. It's called "Purusha" which means "person". In Samkhya, a school of Hindu philosophy, Purusha is pure consciousness. It is thought to be our true identity. 6) This is the Introduction and Dance from my Snow White Ballet. Most of the work is in a very simple neo-classical style and the Introduction is especially so. The curtain opens on "The Court Jesters Dance" and that gets a little wilder. |
